Angola
Towards zero malaria.
FLAME Angola is a coalition of more than 1,600 faith leaders from different faith platforms, who have joined together to fight for the acceleration of malaria elimination in Angola. They advocate for the full implementation of the good policies that exist and for increased access to quality primary health services (including for malaria), especially for populations living in peripheral areas that are traditionally difficult to access.
FLAME Angola chapters exist in all 18 provinces of the country.
Angola is taking action.
families in 8 of Angola’s 18 provinces received mosquito nets in 2022 in a universal distribution campaign (6 provinces in the north and 2 in the south of the country)
increased use of existing nets, among those who have them
reduced stock-outs of ACTs in Health Units

FLAME has identified and advocated against the illegal sale of distributed nets.
FLAME has identified areas where net distribution has skipped registered households, and has advocated for them to have nets.
Through partnerships with PNCM and PSI, FLAME has trained more than 140 of its religious leaders on techniques for transmitting key messages about malaria.
FLAME has facilitated 2 national conferences with partners and government entities.
